Since his last appearance at the lounge, Neville Dickie will be presenting a completely new programme, as well as adding a new member to his team. Dean Morris will again be featured on drums and Neville is pleased to introduce and feature George Simmonds on Trombone and Vocals. If you are looking for an evening of Virtuosity, High Energy and Fun, this is a must-see show.
Neville is known internationally as one of the best pianists in the world playing this toe tapping and joyful music from a period when all music was live, and the Piano was King. He has played professionally with all the leading named Jazz Bands since the 1960s but his big break came when he was spotted by BBC Radio 2 producer Doreen Green in the early 1970s.
He could be heard on that station most days of the week and his popularity led to releasing a single which reached the British Pop Charts – a rare success for a jazz pianist. He was the resident pianist at the Pizza Express Dean St for decades where he played with many of the visiting top American musicians. His numerous LPs sold in huge numbers, and he has made several TV appearances. He now spends half of his year giving concerts in America and Europe but returns annually to perform with his good friend Jools Holland in London.
Neville plays music that is uplifting, creating a real ‘feel good factor,’ so leave your worries at the door and simply enjoy and be transported – It’s music for the Soul!
The evening will cover a broad range of styles from across America with vocals and Jazz Trombone added for good measure by George. This music will transport you back in time, listening to the works of the great players and Jazz legends from the 1920-40s era.
