Martin Blackman is a Hastings born singer/songwriter,
guitar and harmonica player. In the late 80s he and his brother Dave were founding members of successful local band SoulXpress. In the early 90s Martin And Dave formed The Blackman Brothers Band who played venues and functions around the South East and became one of the headline acts at the legendary Black Horse Festival. After the untimely death of Dave, Martin carried on as The Martin Blackman Band and now plays gigs as the band/trio/duo/solo or as Rule Of 3 with various guest players including Steeleye Span bassist Roger Carey, multi instrumentalist John Steel and percussionist / vocalist Kate Stephenson. John plays lead and lap steel guitar, mandolin and banjo and has performed, toured and recorded with singer-songwriter Martin Stephenson for over 35 years and Novocastrian Punk rockers China Drum for nearly 10 years. He’s also played with artists as varied as blues guitarist Roy Buchanan, Ginger Wildheart (The Wildhearts), Michele Stodart (The Magic Numbers), Dream Syndicate, Jackdaw 4 and Kathryn Williams.
