The Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition is back.
40 of the world’s best young concert pianists compete for a title that could launch their careers. Hand-picked from almost 250 entries, they come from 18 countries, over 10 days, they will each attempt to convince the international jury of experts that they should receive the ultimate accolade.
Accompanied by the Southbank Sinfonia in the semi-finals and the full forces of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for the finals, these virtuosic young musicians will perform some of the greatest music for piano ever written. And you can catch every note, in person or online.
In the first round, all 40 competitors perform extracts from the two concertos they have chosen, accompanied by a second pianist.
Day passes are available for all stage 1 sessions. These are free, thanks to the generous support of the Isabel Blackman Foundation – but please book in the normal way through the box office.
Sessions take place at 10:00, 11.50, 14:30, 16:20, 18:30.
Please come and go between sessions only to avoid disturbing the competitors and other audience members.
We are unable to accommodate large parties of school children in these sessions, though individual children are very welcome.
