After over 45 years on the road, The Blockheads are one of the most influential and irrepressible rock ‘n’ funk bands.
Formed in 1977 to partner the legendary Ian Dury on the first Stiff Records UK tour promoting his now classic New Boots and Panties!! album blending funk, punk, disco, and rock with hit singles and albums that followed.
The current band features original members Mick Gallagher, Chaz Jankel, Davey Payne, and John Turnbull augmented by long-term stalwart John Roberts on drums, a revolving line-up of sax players like Gilad Atzmon, Terry Edwards, and Dave Lewis, plus frontman, Mike Bennett. The original Blockheads line-up was extended with a host of great musicians including Wilko Johnson.
