Mike Hext

Making his first appearance as guest of The Jazz Organisation comes Mike Hext -Valve Trombone (also a first with TJO!) – Mike came to prominence winning the first ever BBC TV Young Musician Of The Year Competition in 1978. As a jazz artist he began his career with The National Youth Jazz Orchestra and has since worked with many of the top jazz artists in the UK. As a studio musician he has played on over three hundred film soundtracks including The Mission, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Bridget Jones, The Fifth Element, Shrek and The Golden Compass. He has also been a Professor of Trombone at both the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Music. One of the very best!
