Warm, soulful and irresistibly groovy, the Bob Haddrell Organ Trio brings together three exceptional musicians for an evening of classic jazz, blues-infused improvisation and swinging rhythms that capture the spirit of the great organ trios of the 1950s and 60s. Leading the group is acclaimed keyboard player Bob Haddrell , a highly respected musician whose expressive Hammond organ playing draws inspiration from legends such as Jimmy Smith, Larry Young and Joey DeFrancesco while maintaining a distinctive voice of his own. His rich harmonic language, deep groove and inventive improvisation make him one of the most engaging performers on the South Coast jazz scene. Joining him is guitarist Jack Beattie , an outstanding young talent whose melodic approach, tasteful phrasing and modern jazz sensibility provide the perfect counterpart to the organ’s warmth and power. On drums is the ever-impressive Tony MacDonnell , a seasoned performer known for his dynamic touch, impeccable timing and ability to drive the music while remaining sensitive to every nuance of the ensemble. Together they create the classic organ trio sound: soulful grooves, bluesy swing, hard-bop energy and spontaneous musical conversations that can only happen in front of a live audience. Expect a repertoire that moves effortlessly between jazz standards, blues, Latin grooves and organ-jazz favourites, delivered with virtuosity, humour and plenty of room for improvisation.
