Will Barry is one of the UK’s most in-demand and creative young jazz musicians. An award-winning pianist, drummer and percussionist, he is a recipient of the Musician’s Company Young Jazz Musician of the Year award. Over the last 15 years he has built a reputation for his fluid touch, rhythmic invention and dynamic, percussive sound.
A regular collaborator with Alex Hitchcock, Adrian Cox, Heidi Vogel, Jonny Mansfield and Rachael Cohen, Will appears on acclaimed releases for Whirlwind Records, Fresh Sound New Talent, Ubuntu and Edition Records. He performs frequently at London’s top clubs — Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Dean Street and The Vortex — and has toured internationally, appearing at major festivals including North Sea Jazz, Umbria Jazz and Love Supreme.
Will has performed with leading jazz figures including Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Henderson, Jerry Bergonzi, Joe Farnsworth and Steve Davis, and brings a unique voice shaped by his deep love of South American and Caribbean music. His trio performance at Hastings Jazz Festival promises sensitivity, swing and exhilarating improvisation from one of the UK’s most exciting pianists.
