POETS IN PERFORMANCE
Hastings Book Festival is delighted to host a wonderful afternoon of poetry featuring a blend of nationally renowned household names and shining lights of the local poetry scene.
PART 1
Andy Riley, Emmy- and double-BAFTA-winning comedy scriptwriter (Veep, Black Books, etc), cartoonist (Bunny Suicides) and ‘poetry-adjacent’ spoken word artist.
James Domestic, poet, punk musician, soul and reggae DJ, songwriter, vocalist, musician, and painter.
Grace Pilkington, a leading local performer who has read her poems ‘chronicling the minefield that is pregnancy and motherhood’ on the BBC, Times Radio, and at Hay Festival.
Della Reynolds, a familiar face on the local poetry scene and formerly The Poet in Pajamas, performing amusing yet poignant poems from her ‘Welcome to the Menopause’ collection.
PART 2
Robin Ince, comedian, author, broadcaster, poet, and co-creator of The Infinite Monkey Cage.
Kyla Jardine, award-winning writer, performance poet, spoken word artist, creativity and writing coach.
PART 3
Roger McGough, ‘the godfather of modern poetry,’ broadcaster, children’s author, playwright and presenter of Radio 4’s Poetry Please.
Penny Pepper, award-winning author, poet & disabled activist.
The Poetry Afternoon will begin at 12:30pm and finish at 6pm, and will be split into three sessions. Tickets are available for each session individually, or you can opt for an ‘All-afternoon Pass’ which allows you to come and go as you please.
