Multi‑award‑winning saxophonist Alan Barnes is beloved for his warmth, wit and swinging, straight‑ahead playing — a master storyteller on alto and baritone. Across a career spanning four decades, he has recorded over 100 albums, won over 25 British Jazz Awards , and collaborated with an extraordinary list of jazz greats including Kenny Baker, Stan Tracey, Scott Hamilton, Bruce Adams, Dave Newton, Clark Tracey, and the BBC Big Band.
A regular at every major UK jazz festival , Barnes is known for his charismatic stage presence, razor‑sharp musical humour and deep command of the bebop and hard‑swinging traditions. His playing combines immaculate craft with a joyful, conversational spontaneity that has made him one of the most loved figures in British jazz.
