Friday 31st July | 6:30pm One Special Early Evening Set Barnaby’s Lounge is delighted to present a beautifully intimate evening of jazz featuring vocalist Jude Bentley , bassist Simon Thorpe , and acclaimed jazz musician Professor Robbie Robson. Jude Bentley brings warmth, elegance and emotional depth to every performance. Her interpretations of jazz standards and timeless songs combine classic sophistication with an easy connection to the audience, creating the kind of atmosphere that suits Barnaby’s perfectly: relaxed, expressive and deeply musical. Joining her is renowned double bassist Simon Thorpe , one of the South East’s most respected jazz performers. Known for his rich tone, impeccable musicianship and instinctive musical sensitivity, Simon has performed with an impressive range of leading jazz artists across the UK and Europe. At the piano is Professor Robbie Robson , an internationally respected jazz musician, composer, arranger and educator. Robbie studied at both Leeds College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where he received awards for Outstanding Musicianship and Composition. He was a finalist in the Young Jazz Musician of the Year competition and runner-up in the Perrier Young Jazz Musician award. Throughout his career he has performed with artists including Sir John Dankworth, Dame Cleo Laine, Phil Woods, Jamie Cullum, Bill Frisell and Steve Swallow, while appearing regularly at legendary venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, The Vortex and The 606 Club. Robbie also teaches within the prestigious Jazz Department at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. His lyrical playing, inventive improvisation and deep understanding of jazz tradition make him one of the UK’s most admired musicians. Together, this exceptional trio blends elegant ballads, swinging standards and beautifully crafted improvisation, creating an evening that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. Expect the soundtrack of a classic jazz club, paired with great food, fine wine and Barnaby’s signature cocktails. This is an early evening performance and one set only , making it a perfect way to begin your Friday before our late-night karaoke session from 11pm.
