Peter Ibbetson Jazz Quartet Friday 24th July | 8:30pm Friday Jazz Night at Barnaby’s Lounge Barnaby’s Lounge is proud to welcome the Peter Ibbetson Jazz Quartet , bringing together four outstanding musicians from the contemporary UK jazz scene for an evening of adventurous, expressive and deeply engaging live music. Leading the group is drummer Peter Ibbetson , a musician known for his dynamic playing, subtle touch and ability to create rich musical conversations within an ensemble. Equally comfortable driving hard-swinging grooves or exploring more atmospheric textures, Peter’s approach draws from both the classic jazz tradition and the modern European scene. Joining him is acclaimed double bassist Olie Brice , one of the most respected improvising musicians in Britain today. Known for his powerful sound, creativity and fearless musicality, Olie has performed internationally and collaborated with many of the leading voices in contemporary jazz and free improvisation. His playing brings both grounding and adventure to every performance. ( thejazzmann.com ) On trumpet is Robbie Robson , an internationally recognised jazz musician, composer and educator. A graduate of Leeds College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Robbie has performed alongside jazz legends including Sir John Dankworth, Dame Cleo Laine, Phil Woods, Bill Frisell and Jamie Cullum. As both performer and Professor within the Guildhall jazz department, he is widely respected for his lyrical improvisation, rich harmonic language and distinctive musical voice. Completing the quartet is saxophonist Josephine Davies , one of the UK’s most celebrated contemporary jazz artists. An award-winning composer and bandleader, Josephine is known for combining adventurous improvisation with strong melodic storytelling. Her projects have received widespread critical acclaim, and her work continues to push the boundaries between contemporary jazz, composition and spontaneous creation. Recordings featuring Josephine and Robbie Robson together have been highlighted within the UK jazz scene, showcasing their natural musical chemistry and shared creative language. ( YUMPU ) Expect a night of modern jazz that moves effortlessly between groove, lyricism, interaction and exploration. Intimate enough to feel every musical detail, yet powerful enough to fill the room, this is exactly the kind of performance Barnaby’s Lounge was built for.
