On Sunday 12th July , Barnaby’s Lounge proudly presents the Barnaby’s Lounge Big Band , a spectacular 17-piece ensemble bringing the power, energy and excitement of classic big band jazz to Hastings. Featuring a full complement of saxophones, trumpets, trombones and rhythm section, the band recreates the rich, vibrant sound that made the great swing orchestras famous. Expect soaring horn sections, infectious rhythms, powerful solos and the kind of musical energy that can only come from a large ensemble performing live. Drawing inspiration from the golden age of jazz, the repertoire spans the music of legends such as Duke Ellington , Count Basie , Glenn Miller , Benny Goodman and other big band favourites, alongside modern arrangements and contemporary jazz classics. What makes this orchestra particularly special is the wealth of talent drawn from some of the finest musicians across Sussex and the South East. Together they create a sound that is simultaneously elegant, joyful and exhilarating, equally suited to dedicated jazz lovers and those experiencing live big band music for the first time.
